Germany. K98 Mauser Bayonet w/Frog (matching)
HISTORY. Mauser Karabiner 98 kurz ("carbine 98 short") was the standard issue infantry rifle of the German Wehrmacht during WWII. It was chambered for 8mm Mauser, and was one of the last members of a long line of Mauser-designed bolt-action rifles. To accompany the shorter rifle, the S84/98 III bayonet was developed, which was shorter than previous variants, and usable as a fighting knife or utility knife.
Rare matching K98 bayonet in excellent condition. Maker E.. & F. Horster and matching numbers on both the blade and scabbard (6438). Manufactured date range from 1937 - 1941. All the inspection stamps are present, although reading the inspector number is a challenge on most. WaA250? The backelite ribbed grip is perfect. 10" single edged steel blade is excellent. The all steel scabbard is straight with no dents with an even patina. The leather Frog is complete, functional with all it’s rivets and stirching completely intact. Overall Excellent+
