The hilt of this early Luftwaffe Sword remains in excellent condition. The pommel and crossguard are outstanding and bright. All four (4) sun-wheel swastikas retain 100% of their original gilding. The carved wood grip is covered in the original blue Moroccan leather. The leather remains perfect and is tightly wrapped with dual strands of springy aluminum wire. The scabbard shell has the original Moroccan leather with a few nicks, but nothing has cut the leather through to the medal scabbard. The upper and lower mounts are very light patinated and remain in excellent condition. The upper mount has a pair of hanging rings. The blade is mint and measures 28 1/2”, with the highest quality nickel plating.. The reverse ricasso is finely etched with “Original Eickhorn, Solingen” with the classic Eickhorn squirrel logo. The original blue leather blade washer is in place. Near MINT.
