The hilt of the aluminum Luftwaffe Sword remains in very nice condition. The pommel and crossguard are outstanding and bright. The pommel shows just a small amount of wear and the sun-wheel swastikas has some of the original gilding worn in the center. The glided swastikas on the guard are perfect. The crossguard arms are the wing-like, triple segmented type, with obvious hand enhancement to the feathered design. The carved wood grip is covered in the original blue Moroccan leather. The leather remains perfect and is tightly wrapped with dual strands of springy aluminum wire. The upper and lower mounts are aluminum and remain in excellent condition, retained by headless screws in the edges. The upper mount has a pair of hanging rings with the original crescent hanger in excellent condition. The scabbard has the original blue Moroccan leather and the leather is perfect. The scabbard has a slight crease about 1/4 down the scabbard, so slight it might not be noticeable in the pictures. The blade is as nice as they come and fully mint. It measures 28 1/4 inches long, with highest quality nickel plating and a needle-like tip. The reverse ricasso is finely etched with SMF, Solingen and the sitting king and upright sword logo. The original blue leather blade washer is in place. Excellent++
