Germany. SS Police NCO Degen by Weyersberg
HISTORY. This SS NCO Police Degen was taken from a SS police guard at Mauthausen Concentration Camp by Sgt. Bill Cieply, member of 11th Armored Division who liberated the camp the first week of May 1945. In addition, Sgt. Cieply brought back from the camp a SS Police Officer Degen, a Lugar (with a Totenkopf expertly mounted on both side of the grip), a superb NSKK Chain dagger & the most beautiful Boker SS Dagger you have ever seen.
This Police Officer's Degen is in outstanding condition, looking to have been worn only a few times at best. The nickel plating throughout the "D" guard is still bright and in perfect condition. The upper portion of the pommel retains a bright finish. The ebony grip is in perfect condition. The Police eagle insignia retains full detailing. The excellent portepee is the over size type with a leather strap and three rows of aluminum bullion stitching, which show some wear in a small section as the strap exits the hilt. The scabbard shell is straight throughout. It has wonderful original black paint, showing only a small amount of wear. The blade is a full mint throughout and measures 31 3/8”. The mint blade is maker marked, “Weyersberg & Co, Solingen”. Near MINT.
