HISTORY. The Type A-11 intermediate flying helmet was standardized on August 6, 1943 and became one of the most popular and widely utilized helmets during World War II. It has snaps on the side of the helmet that were employed to secure the oxygen mask.
Constructed of soft brown leather. All snaps, buckles, etc. are tightly sewn right down to the medal tip on the chin strap. Stamped on the inside as a “Medium” size. The rubber earphone mountings hold the original Type ANB-H-1 radio receiver. Original flight goggles stamped on top, “Polaroid, Goggle M-1944” are included. Nicely marked, complete and in Excellent++ condition.
