Germany. Heer (Army) Artillery Officer's Visor by Erel
A well-preserved Heer Flak/Artillery officer’s visor from a premier visor maker. Constructed of field-grey wool twill with a forest-green wool cap band and piped in Red for Artillery. Pinned into the peak is a zinc Wehrmacht eagle. Underneath the eagle is a wreath and cockade, each constructed of silvered zinc. The cap is flanked by pebbled magnetic metal buttons securing in place a decorative chinstrap constructed of multiple rows of twisted and rolled silver aluminum wire. The vulcanfibre visor, painted black on the obverse. The interior features a brown leather sweatband with ventilation perforations at the forehead. The interior has a rayon liner, with the crown bearing a silver maker’s mark of “EREL, SONDERKLASS (Top Grade)”, underneath a transparent moisture guard. A few moth nips and a broken sweatband prevent a MINT rating. These Erel Artillery visors are hard to beat!
