Australian. RAAF. Type D Tropical Flight Helmet, 2nd Pattern

Australian. RAAF. Type D Tropical Flight Helmet, 2nd Pattern
$325.00
This is a British made Type D Tropical Flight Cap, 2nd Pattern (1944), but was used by Sergeant Williams of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), Army Number #431,427. The helmet is extremely clean, with minor use on the inside. These Type D flight helmets were commonly used by US pilots also. The Type D was intended for use in tropical / desert climates. The cooler cotton material and the neck flap for sun protection of the neck are custom items for those climates. Quite scarce example of the 2nd pattern Type D flying helmet, which shows almost no wear and named to an RAAF pilot. MINT.
