Germany. P-08 Luger S/42 (Mauser) 1939 w/ Holster
HISTORY. The Luger was originally designed in 1898 by Georg J. Luger and first manufactured two years later by Deutsche Waffen-und Munitionsfabriken (DWM). The Luger is a toggle locked, recoil operated, semi-automatic pistol that is chambered in 9mm Parabellum. It utilizes an adjustable front blade sight and fixed V notch rear sight that is located on the rear toggle link. It is fed by a single stack 8 round detachable box magazine, but it can also be fed by using a 32 round drum. The Swiss Army first purchased the Luger in 1900, followed by the German Navy in 1904 and German Army in 1908. The popularity of the weapon is understandable – durable, well-made and with so many variations, making it the most popular collector gun in the world.
This all matching S/42 coded Luger was manufactured by Mauser in 1939 with serial # 2462. With serial # 2462 stamped 9 times on the exterior, a double WaA 63 stamp on the right block, original bluing estimated at 97%, bright bore and mint grips. The mag is NOT matching, but is numbered and also stamped with WaA 63. It comes with a matching black leather hard shell holster (MINT), maker marked, “C. Weiss, Braunschweig”, stamped “1939”, and a “WaA” eagle stamp, the number not readable. Great collector piece. Vet bring back.
