Germany. P-08 Luger "42" code (Mauser) 1940 w/ Holster

$2,600.00

HISTORY.   The Luger was originally designed in 1898 by Georg J. Luger and first manufactured two years later by a German company called Deutsche Waffen-und Munitionsfabriken (DWM).  The Luger is a toggle locked, recoil operated, semi-automatic pistol that is chambered in 9mm Parabellum.  It utilizes an adjustable front blade sight and fixed V notch rear sight that is located on the rear toggle link.  It is fed by a single stack 8 round detachable box magazine, but it can also be fed by using a 32 round detachable drum.  The Swiss Army first purchased the Luger in 1900, followed by the German Navy in 1904 and German Army in 1908.  The popularity of the weapon is understandable – durable, well-made and with so many variations, making it the most popular collector gun in the world.

This all matching 42 coded Luger was manufactured by Mauser in 1940 with serial # 402.  A double WaA 656 stamp, original bluing estimated at 94%, multiple tiny contact marks along the right side of the barrel and frame, nice bore and mint grips.  The wooden mag is obviously NOT matching, but is numbered.  It comes with a leather hard shell holster, maker marked, “Zeitz, 1939” and a “WaA 170”.
Nice collector piece. Vet bring back.
