WW1 Bavarian / Austrian . Damascus Sword with Dedication to Dr. Reidl
WW1 Bavarian / Austrian . Damascus Sword with Dedication to Dr. Reidl
$1,200.00
A very unique & beautiful sword and one that has a very interesting story.. We have two men involved, one named “Moseman” who was a “In Treue Fest” (Bavarian Officer) as engraved on the sword blade, who’s motto was defined as “Steadfast in Loyalty”. It appears that Mosman (initials “HM” engraved on the pommel) was presenting his sword to Dr. Reidl as an overt gesture for some unknown reason. Now we assume the Dr. Reidl was Austrian, as he hung a Austrian toddle on the sword? Regardless of the story, this a beautiful sword with a demascus blade, etched and gliding. The 100 year old Austrian troddleis is mint.
