This “Type 5” (5th year of the Showa era or 1930) Imperial Japanese Army (IJA) Lieutenant’s rank insignia were worn on the shoulders of the uniform, since that model of uniform featured a stand-up collar that displayed the arm of service colors and regimental numerals. A gilded wire embroidery to the center & edges is place over a orangish red cloth, with one gilded-washed brass, five point star affixed in the center. Rare. MINT.
