$1,325.00
HISTORY. The Order of Merit of the German Eagle was a diplomatic and honorary award given to prominent foreigners, particularly diplomats.
The obverse has beautiful white enamel surrounded by four patinaed reichsadlers. The ribbon is original as well as the horizontal pinback. The reverse has a noticeable crack in the enamel. The upper fan is maker marked on its side with “5” for Hermann Wernstein. The original case shows some exterior wear, but the hinge and catch work perfectly and the interior is MINT. The interior of the lid states in gold leaf, “Deutscher Adlerorden V. Klasse”. Translated, “German Order of Eagle, 5th Class”. Overall a great representation of this rare relic.
