HISTORY. The 109th Regiment was activated in 1877, so it has a rich history that spans the WW1, WW2 and the Iraq War. It’s decorations include the Presidential Unit Citation, French Croix de Guerre with Palms (WW2), the Luxembourg Croix de Guerre and many more. The ribbon running through the eagle’s beak is the units motto in Latin, “Cives Arma Ferant”, meaning - Let the Citizens Bear Arms. Ever item on the standard is full of history.
