Italy. MVSN Fighting Knife
Italy. MVSN Fighting Knife
HISTORY. A well known fighting knife used by Italian & Axis troops during the time of Benito Mussolini from the early 1920s until 1943. Featuring a double-edged blade with steel cross guard and wooden grip secured by two steel rivets and steel pommel. This dagger comes complete in an all steel belt scabbard with angled belt loop. The scabbard front is embossed with the Fascist logo of the famous bound axe and rods over M.V.S.N., which stood for "Milizia Volontara par la Sicurezza NSDAPonale" known to the rest of the world as the Blackshirts. This "second pattern" MVSN dagger, unlike the first pattern, was completely and originally manufactured to the designs of the then new Fascist Party specification, and it was intended to serve both as a dress dagger and as a useful combat knife.
Approximate Blade Length: 8 1/2"
Approx Blade Width: 1 1/8"
Approximate Overall Length: 13"
Historic fighting knife shows significant wear and priced accordingly. The grip was apparently cracked at one time and has had wood filler used to seal the cracks. The blade shows heavy oxidation and the original scabbard has been repainted. Regardless of condition, this is a great piece of history.
