These privately printed notices (done at the family's expense) were handed out at the soldier's memorial service and mailed to friends and relatives. Each has a uniform photo of the soldier along with some information about his service, medals if any, where was born and killed etc.
This notice reads: Ponigl Ferdinand: Sergeant in a military engineer battalion - has awarded the Iron Cross 2nd Class and the Infantry Assault Badge - son of a farmer from Niederscharding - has died the heroic death for his home country after a life of faithful fulfilment of his duries on Feb 24, 1942 at the age of 26 years in the battles at the east front.
