HISTORY. The tank destruction badge was a German military decoration during the Third Reich, awarded to individuals in the Wehrmacht who had single-handedly destroyed an enemy tank or “armored combat vehicle” using a hand-held weapon.
Construction of the tank badge, on the obverse is a Panzer MK IV and is constructed of blackened metal (magnetic) with has picked up some rust over the years, superimposed on a tight interwoven band consisting of silver aluminum bullion threading; edged on the top and bottom sides by two black rayon strips; with a black wool backer; measuring 89 mm x 32 mm.
