Germany. 1936 Berlin Olympic Motor Race Document Tube
Germany. 1936 Berlin Olympic Motor Race Document Tube
$995.00
The Germans were famous for going over the top from time to time. This sort of fits in that category, as it’s a cooper document tube with silver non-magnetic embellishments and expertly engraved. The engraving, “Treuefahrt der Motorstandarte 111 ins Saarland Seestadt Rostock, 2 August 1936” (Roughly translated: Loyalty journey for the motor standard from the Saarland to sea side Rostock, August 2, 1936). The date was the second day of the 1936 Berlin Summer Olympics, so I’m going to assume it had something to do with the Olympics. Measures 14 3/4” x 2”. Weight is 32.7 oz. One of a kind relic.
