HISTORY. In the 1930s, the Sudetenland was a German speaking area within Czechoslovakia. Hitler wanted it to be part of Germany and threatened war. This prompted the Munich Conference where the British Prime Ministry, Neville Chamberlain appeased Hitler and proclaimed “Peace in our Time”. That was a mistake. A year later WW2 began.
